THE TWELVE GATES OF JERUSALEM
1. Judah-fourth son of Jacob and Leah: praising Jehovah, the Lord | The Gate of Judah is opened by giving praise to God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Archangels, Angels and Elohim of God, the inner plane Ascended Masters and Celestial Beings; expressing respect and gratitude to our Creator! Jesus was born of the tribe of Judah. The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary describes the "spinal cord as the physical expression of the tribe of Judah" and "the cities of Judah in Samuel as aggregations of thoughts in the ’praise’ consciousness of man." |
2. Issachar-fifth son of Jacob and Leah: hiring His help/there is reward | The key that unlocks the Gate of Issachar is prayer to God and our celestial family, asking for their help and company! Why do everything yourself when the assistance of the Angels, Archangels, Elohim, Ascended Masters, and Christed Extraterrestrials is yours for the asking! |
3. Zebulun-tenth son of Jacob, and the sixth by Leah: Inviting Him to dwell with me | The Gate of Zebulun opens by allowing God and the Masters into every aspect of your life! |
4. Reuben-eldest son of Jacob, by Leah: "See, a son; behold, a son" seeing what the Lord has brought me | The Gate of Reuben is opened by the opening of your Spiritual vision on all levels. Your Spiritual vision is defined by the development of your consciousness. The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary identifies the higher expression of the faculty of Reuben expressed in the disciple Simon Peter who saw with the eyes of faith; a sure and strong foundation; a rock as in Peter. |
5. Simeon-second son of Jacob, by Leah: Knowing that the Lord hears me; hearing; obeying | You open the Gate of Simeon by realizing that God hears your every prayer and by learning to listen to the small voice within that speaks to you at all times if you will but listen and hear! |
6. Gad-seventh son of Jacob and first of Zilpah, Leah’s maid: Knowing that the Lord sends with fortune (as in opportunity); fortunate | Seeing the opportunity in every difficulty; taking opportunities; realizing that every moment in life we are given the opportunity to realize Self and God in a more full spectrum prism manner; trust in God is what opens the Gate of Gad! The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary identifies the tribe of Gad as the unspiritualized "faculty of power," represented by "Jesus’ disciple Philip" Gad, the horseman - Philip, a lover of horses |
7. Ephraim-second son of Joseph: bearing fruit, fruitfulness, being fruitful | The Gate of Ephraim is in reference to the fruits of the Spirit which are unconditional love, kindness, purity, understanding, compassion, gentleness, joy, patience … This gate opens by our learning to nourish the fruits of the Spirit within and starving the fruits of the ego - fear, jealousy, illusion, hatred, - to death. As Jesus gave, "You will know them by their fruits!" The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary identifies the esoteric meaning of Ephraim as "will." |
8. Manasseh-eldest son of Joseph: forgetting my toil, forgetfulness | The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary identifies the esoteric meaning of Manasseh as "understanding … and the understanding faculty of the mind." The Gate of Manasseh opens by remembering the power of God within which is easily forgotten in this day and ago, and often sought in the outside, in false gods instead! You open the gate of Manasseh by denying the temporary, illusionary false gods and opening your mind to the Spiritual/Christ/Buddha/God Consciousness which will bring about a God-infused, higher understanding. |
9. Benjamin-the younger of the two sons of Rachel and Jacob: son of my old age; Expecting good things even in old age or sorrow | The Gate of Benjamin is symbolic of the value of expectancy. As Cayce gave, "Expect much, you will obtain much. Expect little, you will obtain little. Expect nothing, you will obtain nothing." |
10. Dan-fifth son of Jacob, by Bilhah, Rachel’s handmaid: judging wisely | Dan speaks of the importance of making wise judgments, and learning the difference between judgement and Spiritual discernment. The one is based on fear and negative ego, and the other on unconditional love. The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary identifies Dan as the unspiritualized "faculty of judgment in man" |
11. Asher-Jacob’s second son, by Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid: living in happiness | Obviously happiness is the key that turns the lock of this gate. Happiness is a state of mind that is attained by giving it to others. |
12. Naphtali-sixth son of Jacob, and second son of Bilhah, Rachel’s handmaid: Wrestling with Jehovah; wrestling with the issues and challenges of life | The Gate of Naphtali is in reference to the Spiritual Warrior Archetype. "Life is a battlefield," as Yogananda said. The challenge of Naphtali lies in facing all your challenges in life with the warrior’s attitude and welcoming them as an opportunity to get even stronger. As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said, "What doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger!" |
